Here we have a wonderful Impala SS convertible that is nicely optioned with power steering, power brakes, 4 Season A/C and a powerful 327 cubic inch engine.
Presented in factory correct Ermine White and a lovely black vinyl interior, this is beautiful sixties convertible.
Externally the ’66 Impalas hadn’t changed much from the previous year with just a few minor styling changes. The most obvious was the rectangular taillights that replaced the round lenses of previous years.
Inside, the SS models came with all-vinyl bucket seats, center floor console and SS badges. While the exterior hadn’t changed too much, interiors had changed quite a bit from the previous year. Gone were the bulky Corvair based bucket seats with new “Strato” seats in their place. Along with this black interior there were five other colors available for 1966.
The standard V8 for the Impala was a 283 cubic inch power plant that outputs 195 horsepower. However, under the hood sits a 275 horsepower 327 cubic engine that the original owner would have paid an additional $198. They also opted for a poweglide automatic transmission rather than the 3-speed manual, bringing the total for the drivetrain to $393.
The SS Convertible was the most expensive Impala for the 1966 model year with prices starting at $3,093. Chevrolet sold 119,300 Impala SS cars although there is no figure breakdown between the Sport Coupe and Convertible.
