1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner – Video Walkaround and Test Drive

This is a 1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner Convertible with 312 cubic inch V8 Thunderbird Special (P code) engine and Ford-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission. It really captures the spirit of the fifties with the striking Diamond Blue over Bermuda Blue exterior finish.

Fairlane models were top trim levels for ’56 and Ford described the Fairlane interiors as a “living room” on wheels. This Light Blue and Medium Blue all-vinyl interior (code BM) certainly looks the part.

Base price for this car would have been $2459 although the Thunderbird Special V8 would have been a $123 option. It has a Holey four-barrel carburetor and provided 225 horsepower at 4600 RPM.

Ford made 58,147 Fairlane Sunliner Convertibles during the 1956 model year and was the best selling convertible for ’56! It would have cost you $2,549 if you had ordered one new.
